Our Community

Our Members

Every tenant is a member of BNCHA.

As members, our tenants share ownership and responsibility for the management of our homes.

Once a year at our Annual General Meeting usually held in September or October, our tenant members elect members of the BNCHA management committee.  Nomination forms for elections are available on the website prior to the AGM (available here) or from the BNCHA office.

Those standing for election are required to say that they will sign up to BNCHA’s “Statement of Committee Member Responsibilities”

The committee meet at least once a month to plan and review strategy development, and review policies, finances and housing services for our co-op

Committee meetings are currently held online meaning that committee members can participate from the comfort of their homes.

Encouraging members to participate on the committee is important to us, but we also encourage our member to participate in many other ways.

We regularly carry out surveys of our members and we hope that as many members as possible return such surveys.

We also hold various consultation meetings with our members – most that are open to all our members, but sometimes specific meetings for particular groups of members (such as at the Loughborough Cottages scheme, Canterbury House or in other locations).

We also hold regular community events and excursions to encourage our members to participate which are both about building our local community and getting dialogue going amongst our community.

We also encourage Belgrave community members who may not live in our homes to participate in improving BNCHA.

If you have a passion, drive and dedication for the welfare of others then please contact our Membership Officer Rupal Rajani at rupal@belgravecoop.org.uk. Your voice is so important, as tenants are best placed to see what needs improving.

We have an Active Membership Policy which is available here.

Want to apply?

Our tenants either apply directly to us for housing, or are referred to us by other organisations such as Leicester City Council or other housing associations. If you would like to apply for a home, please phone the Belgrave office, send us an email or apply online.
